Hallway solutions for busy lives

This small, tapered hallway is the main entryway for a busy family of four, requiring storage for shoes, coats, scarves, hats, and gloves—all in a very limited space with only one viable wall for storage.

The challenge

The problem

This small, tapered hallway is the main entryway for a busy family of four, requiring storage for shoes, coats, scarves, hats, and gloves—all in a very limited space with only one viable wall for storage.

The Process

Here's how we helped

To maximise functionality, we designed a high shelf running almost the entire hallway length, providing space for baskets for gloves and hats on top, with double hooks below for coats. To support the weight of coats, a ladder-style shoe tower was added along the right side, turned 90 degrees to discreetly hide shoes from view and incorporate a full-length mirror into the design. On the left, the top shelf is supported by a wall-mounted bracket featuring a small hanging rail for coats that require hangers. Further down, a row of low hooks encourages younger family members to hang up their own coats and bags.

The result

and here is how it turned out

The final design is a minimalist yet efficient storage solution, offering extensive storage within a small footprint and preserving the hallway’s flow. The variety of storage options—high and low hooks, shoe shelves, baskets, and a hanging rail—ensures the space will adapt to the family’s needs for years to come.
